The research network serves to establish contacts between researchers in Europe and overseas, who are currently working on referential
categories in Romance languages. In particular, we are interested in the syntax-semantics-interface with respect to the grammatical
realization of animacy, specificity, definiteness and related categories. The research network was founded in 2002 in Konstanz and
since we had active interchanges including a conference series:
Nereus 1: "Semantic and syntactic aspects of specificity in Romance
languages"
at the Universität Konstanz, October 2002 [read
more]
Nereus 2: "Specificity and the evolution/emergence of nominal
determination systems in Romance"
at the Freie Universität zu Berlin, October 2004 [read
more]
Nereus 3: "Definiteness, Specificity and Animacy in Ibero-Romance
languages"
at the Universidad de Alcalá (Madrid), October 5th / 6th 2006
